Reginald Charles Roy
July 23, 1929 - September 21, 2021
Reg was born in 1929 to family of French-Canadian descent in Massachusetts. He was the 3rd of 4 children and showed great musical promise at a very early age. He mastered many instruments and music remained a daily endeavor throughout his life. Growing up in an industrious family, he worked in their multiple businesses, learning how to remain positive and provide during hard times. He served in the Army during the Berlin Airlift in 1949. After his service, he worked to achieve his private pilot’s license, married, and moved his family to California. He continued with his love of flying as a test pilot for a private aircraft overhaul corporation. His career evolved into manufacturing, moving him to Wisconsin and ultimately to Longview as the first Plant Manager of Norris Industrial Cylinder Co., and later, Wesco Valve in Marshall. In his later years, he owned and operated a lock and safe business in Longview. He was a man that had many interests and abilities, loved music, flying, and horses, and never winced in the face of uncertainty. Despite some formidable life challenges, he was the human embodiment of “fearless” and “powering-through”. He loved to work and enjoyed living in the moment. Like the song, he could truly say “he did it his way”. He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael, and Gerard. He is survived by his wife, Betty, his son Ken, and daughters Christina and Jeannine, 2 granddaughters, 4 grandsons and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Reginald Roy to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Donations can be made on-line at t2t.org or by calling (718)987-1931.
