Perry Milam Maxwell

Perry Milam Maxwell, 82 of Longview, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on September 18, 2021, at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Hospital. Perry was born in Leveretts Chapel, TX on July 20, 1939 to William L. and Velma Maxwell. He attended Leveretts Chapel Schools where he flourished and cultivated life long friendships. At the age of 23, he was drafted into the Army, where he honorably served his country in the 815th and 864th Engineering Battalion during the Cuban Crisis from 1962 to 1964. Perry was happily married for 52 years to the love of his life, Barbara J. Maxwell. He loved dearly his two children and completely adored his two grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, photography enthusiast, and a finished carpenter. He was an intelligent man who loved to read and self educate himself on various subjects. He was an active members of County Line Baptist Church in New Diana. As a born again christian, he shared his faith and love of Jesus with everyone he met. Perry retired from Trinity Industries in 2004, after 25 years as a Special Projects Coordinator. In 2008 he was honored to join the company of great inventors when he was granted a United States Patent for his invention to roll, cut, weld, and form tank car outer jackets, that is still used at Trinity Industries today. He was preceded in death by his Father, William L. Maxwell, and Mother, Velma Maxwell. Brothers; R.L. Maxwell, Benson Maxwell, Elmer Maxwell, Alvin Maxwell, and Donald Maxwell. Sisters; Eunice Dewey, Ora Fae Porter, and Tommie Criswell. Son-in-Law, George P. Whitley, III. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara J. Maxwell of Longview, TX. Son, Scott Maxwell, daughter-in-law, Tammy Maxwell, and grandson, Skeeter Maxwell of White Oak, TX. Daughter, Melanie Whitley, and granddaughter, Holly Whitley of White Oak, TX. Brother, Boyce Maxwell, sister-in-law, Shirley Maxwell of Houston, TX. Sister-in-law, Janette Maxwell of Longview, TX. Many nephews, nieces, cousins, and cherished friends. Services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, TX, followed by graveside services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Longview, TX.
