    Jimmie Faye Snider

    November 21, 1930 - March 8, 2015

11/21/1930-3/8/2015 "You are reading in the newspaper that I am dead. Do not believe a word of it, for I am more alive than ever before." I borrowed this quote from the great evangelist, D.L. Moody, because I couldn't think of a better way to give such good news. I am now with my Savior. I am now in my real home. This body that I have no more use for is dead and will be put in the mausoleum at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, Texas but I can assure you that I am not there. If you want to shed tears, make them tears of joy. I am rejoicing in heaven. Remember that I am with my Lord and have joined all that have gone before me. This past Sunday, March 8, 2015, was a time of great reunion. I am once again with my parents, Nina Faye Carlock and Tandy James “T.J.” Reardon and my grandparents, John Ruel and Cordie Elizabeth Curry. In fact, we will be together for all eternity. I have had a life of 84 years and 4 months blessed beyond belief. A true blessing and the love of my life has been my husband, Gaylon Snider. We would have been married 22 years on March 21, 2015. But my most precious gifts are my children: Gary Davis and fiancé Stacy Pittman of Tennessee Colony, Janet Davis Riley and husband, Rodney of Longview, Dena Davis Justice of Longview, Ellen Lee Dodd of Longview, Phil Lee and wife Susie of Nacogdoches and my stepchildren: Debbie Snider Horridge and husband Ralph of Austin, Pam Snider Meacham and husband Bob of Austin, Terri Snider Padhina and husband Rick of Longview, Gaylynne Snider Thomas and husband Garry of Hallsville and Jason Snider and wife Heather of Ft. Worth. From these children I have been blessed with 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Having reached the end of my life on earth, I reflect that my grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild have brought me such amazing joy and happiness. My siblings, a brother Charles and wife Nadine Reardon of Kilgore and Betty Jo and husband Ferrell Bassett of Odessa and a host of loving friends and family. Many of the great joys in my life were the relationships that I formed throughout my time here on earth. I graduated from Gaston High School in Haynesville, LA in 1948. I committed 40 years of dedicated leadership to the East Texas Builders Association retiring in 2010, which included being the 2nd person to ever serve as Executive Vice President for the Association since its Charter in 1954, Life Time Achievement Award in 2010 from the Texas Association of Builders, recognized by National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as the longest serving Executive Officer in the history of NAHB. Member of the Eastern Star #610, past President of American Business Women's Association, past member of the Zonta Club, past board member of Longview Chamber of Commerce and Better Business board member. Thank you for making my life richer with your friendship. When you read this, I will have taken my last breath here, and the next in heaven. Many of you, I will see again. Some I won't and that is the saddest thing in the world to me. God has made provision that "none should perish." That provision was the sacrifice of His Son. You are all too valuable and cost Him too dearly not to receive that gift. And it is a gift. There is no way we can earn, buy, or work our way into heaven. The only way is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart. The most quoted verse in the Bible is John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believed in Him would not perish, but would have everlasting life." Please let that verse speak to your heart and receive that gift of salvation so we will meet again. Yours truly, Jimmie In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to East Texas Builders Association, 2023 Alpine Rd. Longview, TX in her memory. My visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the East Texas Builders Association, Jimmie Snider Event Center, 2023 Alpine Rd., Longview, Texas. My funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the East Texas Builders Association, Jimmie Snider Event Center, under direction of Rader Funeral Home. A private family internment will be held following my funeral at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, Texas.
