    James Michael Simmons

    October 7, 1948 - June 29, 2021

    Visitations for James Michael Simmons, 72, of Huntington will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Carroway Funeral Home in Huntington, and Friday, July 2, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Henderson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson with Brother David Gatlin officiating. Interment will follow in the New Salem Cemetery in Henderson. Mr. Simmons was born October 7, 1948 in Henderson, Texas to the late Lura (Norman) and W.A. Simmons, and died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in a local hospital. Mr. Simmons was a Pressman at American Color Graphics. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing dominoes. He was very talented at woodworking and could build anything. Mr. Simmons was a member of First Ora Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his children, Kenneth Simmons and wife Dannielle of Huntington, Bettie Dennis and husband Bo of Huntington, Kathy McClure and husband C.H. of Galveston, Jennifer Reynolds, Mary Sellers and husband Dennis, all of Hudson, Ordrey McClelland of Zavalla; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Syble Bassett and husband Mack of Henderson, Norman Simmons and wife Dianne of Arkansas, Judy Gilstrap of Carthage; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Carolyn Simmons; and eight siblings. Pallbearers will be Zachary Dennis, Justin McClelland, Boo McCarty, Ordrey McClelland, Roy Lee Simmons, Johnny Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Bo Dennis, Jacob Simmons, Luken Simmons, Jeremiah Simmons, and Carter Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McClelland, David Childress, and James David Childress.
