    James Maxwell

    November 1, 1955 - April 30, 2022

    James Alvin Maxwell was born November 1st, 1955 in Orange, Tx to Alvin and Jeanette Maxwell. He is preceded in death by his father Alvin Maxwell. He is survived by his mother Jeanette Maxwell, brother and wife Bill and Paula Maxwell, brother and wife Joe and Patti Maxwell, daughter and husband Jamie and Scott Funderburk, Grandson Austin Lanicek, and numerous friends and family. A casual come and go visitation will be held Friday May 6th at Longview's rader funeral home chapel from 6p-8p. A private graveside service will be for immediate family at a later date at Ore City cemetery. James went to school and graduated high school at Ore City School in 1974. After high school he pursued a career in law enforcement at Kilgore college. He started his law enforcement career at Gladewater Police Department but spent the majority of his law enforcement career at the Gregg County Sherriff's Department in Longview, tx. He spent 20+ years at the Sherriff's Department with multiple roles including: Deputy - patrol division, Officer- civil/warrants division, Investigator- criminal investigation division, Sergeant- Narcotics division, Lieutenant- administration division. Later in life he worked for several years at Texas Home Health and ended his working career in 2016. His hobbies included a wide range of activities throughout his life. For many years he was a Scuba Diver and traveled the world exploring the ocean. He enjoyed a social life and going dancing. He enjoyed having toys and had just about every kind of vehicle throughout his life from old classic cars, four wheelers, motorcycles, boats, and campers. He never met a stranger, had a huge heart, treated everyone with respect, and he always wanted to make people laugh. He may have passed away at the young age of 66 but he lived a FULL life.
