Graveside services for Esther Mable Cox Palmer, 85, of Canton, formerly of Longview, will be 10 AM Tuesday, March 16, at Memory Park Cemetery, Longview. Interment to follow. A memorial service will be at 3 PM Tuesday, March 16, at First Baptist Church, Canton, with Reverend Don Childress officiating. Mrs. Palmer went to be with her Lord on Saturday at a hospital in Tyler. She was born in Navarro County, near Corsicana, on August 1, 1924. Her parents were E. J. George Cox and El Vanie Jane Reynolds Cox. She married Eugene Palmer on September 17, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Palmer graduated from East Mountain High School in 1941 and from Kilgore College in 1943. She was the third captain of the Kilgore College Rangerettes. She served as a dietician at Harmon Hospital during World War II. Mrs. Palmer was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Sulphur Springs for twenty-one years. She was a third grade Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir at First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs for fifteen years. She was a member of Ross Rogers' Sunday School Class at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, Mansfield, Tx. She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church, Canton. She was a member of Rangerette Forever and Mansfield Retired Education Association. Honorary pall bearers will be Curt Ball, Ed Bower, Kelly Davis, Mal Fowler, Jimmy Freeman, Paul Goble, Mark Hughes, Charles Mitchell, Clarence Palmer, Deral Palmer, Gene Earl Palmer and William Palmer. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Teel of Canton and Melanie Marple and husband Jim of Corpus Christi. Other survivors include four granddaughters, Lacy Teel of Houston, Lauren Teel of Canton, Cara Marple and Monica Marple of Corpus Christi, two grandsons, Dan Marple and wife Cherilyn of Tampa, Fl and Andy Marple of Atlanta and great granddaughter Grace Marple of Tampa, Fl.
