    Carl Rodger Hagstrom

    July 15, 1929 - January 18, 2014

    Carl "Rodger" Hagstrom of Elberta, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Longview Texas, where he spent the last 5 months with his son Chris and his family. Rodger, born in Jamestown, N.Y. was 84. Rodger was the Manager, electric furnaces, continuous casting and extrusion mills at Lone Star Steel Company from 1979-1981. He came to LSS from Curtiss-Wright Corporation of Buffalo, N.Y. where he was manager of operations of that firm's extrusion facility. Rodger was an avid boatsman and enjoyed working in his workshop. He was a member of the Optimists of Elberta, AL and tutored math to students in the locals schools. He held a B.S. degree in mathematics from St. Lawrence University in N.Y. and also owns a masters of electrical engineering and a masters in mechanical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic in NY. He received his masters of business administration in industrial management at the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce in Philadelphia. Surviving are his brother, Dr. Robert A. Hagstrom of Ashville, N.Y. six children, Carl R. Hagstrom Jr. of Universal City, TX, Anne Greenwald of Midlothian, VA, Susan Hagstrom of Buffalo, N.Y., Chris Hagstrom of Longview, TX, Mary Alexander of El Ciruelo, Panama, and Curt Hagstrom of Aubrey, TX; and 14 grandchildren Visitation will not be observed. A memorial service will be planned for Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Lillian United Methodist Church in Lillian, AL. Private family services will be held at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola FL. The family suggest memorials be made to the Southeast Works, 181 Lincoln Street, Depew, N.Y.
