Betty Jo Rieger Graveside services for Betty Rieger will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 27 beginning at 10am with Rev. Ottis Jarrell officiating. A time of visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 pm. Betty went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2018 at her home, and surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Frost TX on January 16, 1927 to parents Harvey and Annie Lou Shipman. She attained her LVN license and soon began working for Dr. Frank Jackson for 15 years, then she became a home visit nurse for the next 12 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harvey Lee Shipman; grandmother, Fronnie Mae, who was a full blooded Cherokee; beloved step-father, Theo Whitehurst of Marshall; and her husband of 47 years, Harold Rieger. Those left to cherish their memories of Betty include her sons, Travis Lee Rieger and his wife Marilynn of Hallsville, and Dennis Daryl Rieger and his wife Sandy of Longview; grandchildren, Chad Rieger, Keri Rieger Reece and her husband Kenneth, Traven Rieger and his wife Sabrina, and Lacy Akkerman and her husband Justin; 7 great-grandchildren; and her special nephew Steve Shipman and his wife Susan. Betty will also be greatly missed by her dancing partner, traveling companion, and best friend for the last 17 years Bill Jeanes. They got the opportunity to see the world together and loved each other dearly. A special thank you to the staff of East Texas Hospice of the exceptional care that they gave Betty in the final days of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highway 80 Mission or the Church of your choice in Betty’s name.
