Dr. Ben D. Rogers

Dr. Ben Rogers of Longview, passed from earth to his home in heaven November 6, 2019. Rogers is a native of Louisiana, growing up in Shreveport where he was saved, baptized, licensed and ordained to the Baptist ministry. Dr. Rogers received B.A., M.A., M.Div. and Th.D. degrees and an honorary doctorate. He served seven years as Associate Professor of Practical Theology and seven years as an Adjunct Professor at Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, FL. Rogers spent twenty years as a pastor of churches in Louisiana, Missouri, California and Texas. Known by his friends as Bro. Ben, he was founder and director of the Ben Rogers Evangelistic Association and spent more than 36 years as an evangelist, preaching the gospel all over the world. Ben is survived by his loving wife, Nita of 65 years, 4 children and their families, a sister in California, a sister-and brother in-law from Houston. He was met in Heaven by a daughter, and his mother and father, and a world-wide host of friends. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care Ben received at Longview Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Mission Malawi Fund at Oakland Heights Baptist Church, 1600 Judson Rd., Longview, Texas 75605. A Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Forest Park East Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. A Celebration Service for Dr. Rogers will be held at Oakland Heights Baptist Church on Sunday, November 10th at 2:30 p.m.
