Barbara Arlene Greer was born July 2nd, 1934 to Troy and Grace Dixon in Neches, TX. The family moved around some in her childhood and Arlene attended Pine Tree High School. She married Rudolph Greer, the love of her life in 1952 and they spent the next several years raising their sons, Richard, Douglas “Dubby”, and Randy. In 1996 Rudolph retired from Eastman Chemical Company and he and Arlene spent the next several years traveling and living their best life. Their favorite places were Mission, TX (aka the Valley) and Lake Wright Patman. In April of 2006 Arlene’s beloved Rudolph passed away after 54 years of marriage. Rudolph was a resident at Whispering Pines Nursing Facility due to his illness and every night when she would leave to go home and sleep, Arlene would tell him “I love you a bushel and a peck,” to which he replied “And a hug around the neck!” Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Troy Lee Dixon and Edna Grace Dixon. Her husband Rudolph Greer and her brother Robert Dixon. Arlene is survived by her sisters, Betty Russell and Edna Ruth “Pete” Anderson and husband Dennis. Sons; Richard Lee Greer and wife Debbie, Douglas Ray (Dubby) Greer and wife Judy, and Randy Dale Greer and wife Holly. Her boys meant the world to her and were her pride and joy. Her grandchildren, whom she loved to show pictures of to anyone that would look were also her pride and joy. The oldest being, Brandon Dyess Greer and wife Dena, then Steven Lee Greer and wife Kristi. Amy Carol Greer, Melisa Ann Greer, Justin Ray Greer, Sara Beth Shelton and husband Tim, Ronnie Leon Waid, and Matthew Eugene Greer. Great grandchildren include; Dyess Greer, Issac Greer, and Brayden Greer. Skylar Greer, Hannah Hill, Austin Hill and Dillon Greer. Kadyn Downing, Bradyn Marrable and Hope Keys. Stormy Plunkett, Damion Pearson and Savannah McGuire. Payton Shelton and Brylee shelton, and Aubrey and Kennedy Waid. She also had 2 great- great grand babies, Karter and Karson Plunkett, along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Many people would describe Arlene as feisty and sassy! She knew what she wanted and definitely knew how to get it! She loved her family dearly and was loved by her family and many friends. Arlene passed from this life to her eternal life on March 17th, 2022 at the age of 87. It is certain her beloved Rudolph was waiting to welcome her along with her other loved ones into the arms of her savior. “Granny Arlene” as she was known to so many, will surely be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. The family will welcome friends at a visitation at Rader Funeral Home Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 from 5-7 pm and Service, Wednesday March 23rd, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home with burial service at Cain Cemetery immediately following. The family would like to express their gratitude and deep appreciation for all the condolences and love shared over the last few days.
