Anthony “Tony” Clay Rash passed away on April 3, 2021 at the age of 58, at home with his family in his hometown of Longview, Texas. After a courageous battle with cancer, he showed his strength in facing life’s challenges with a smile on his face and an always positive outlook. His family will continue to honor Tony’s legacy by living their lives to the fullest and continuing to keep family first. Tony was born to Jackie and Ilene Rash on October 17, 1962. After graduating from Longview High School in 1981, Tony then went on to Kilgore College to pursue is degree in electrical science. During college, he worked at Baskin Robbins where he met his future wife, Nancy. Together, they had two children: Sara and Clay. Tony was hired on at SWEPCO/AEP in 1984 as a mailman/janitor and worked his way through many positions within the company. Tony was with SWEPCO/AEP for 37 years where he finished his career as Safety & Health manager, or as the guys would state, “the safety man.” Tony took the greatest amount of pride in these 3 things in life; his family, his career, and anything with a motor. He loved being in the yard or riding his motorcycle. He was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, yard work, car troubles, and anything else someone needed with a smile on his face and a brain full of knowledge. His cheerful attitude, eagerness to jump in and help and listening ear will be sorely missed at his home as well as at his office. Tony is survived by his wife: Nancy Gray Rash, daughter and son-in-law: Sara and Kevin Claiborne, son: Clay Rash, his parents: Jackie and llene, brother and sister-in-law : Mike (David) and Pam, and many other cousins, family members, and fur family members. A special thank you to all the lovely nurses and staff at the Longview Cancer Center for taking such great care of Tony for so many years and for encouraging him to fight for as long as he did. A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 9, at the Rader Chapel. The family will receive friends at Rader funeral home in Longview Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. Signing out with one of Tony’s favorite song lyrics that he truly lived by: “It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got”
