    Anna Rodean Lipscomb

    June 4, 1931 - June 26, 2021

Anna Rodean Lipscomb passed away June 26, 2021 in Tyler TX. She was born in Mineola, Texas on June 4th, 1931 to William Roy and Iris Adrian King. The family moved to Longview, Texas in 1945. While attending SMU, she met and later married the love of her life, Richard “Big Daddy” Lipscomb in 1951. In 1953, she and her first born son, Larry, moved to Japan while Richard served in the Korean War. After Korea, while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, her son Bill was born. The couple then returned to Longview, to settle down and raise their family. She found time to join her friends in activities such as Bridge, Mahjong, and garden club. She especially enjoyed hosting, and making everyone feel welcome. Rodean was an amazing cook. If you were ever in Ro’s home during Thanksgiving or Christmas you would have enjoyed Ro’s famous homemade rolls, and may have been lucky enough to experience her frozen milk punch; maybe the strongest in East Texas. We also looked forward to the banana nut bread she baked for holiday gifts. Ro and Big Daddy enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sporting events. When her children were grown, she and Dick, encouraged by their son Bill, began scuba diving and took many dive vacations. Rodean is preceded in death by her parents, William and Iris King, her son, Sidney Ryan Lipscomb, and her husband, Richard Lipscomb. She is survived by her sons Larry Lipscomb and wife, Greer and William Lipscomb. Grandchildren are Lee James Lipscomb, Alex Lipscomb, and Jordan Daniel Lipscomb. She is also survived by her sister, Lewan Harris and husband Carroll, their four daughters and many great nieces and great nephews. Ro was a delightful woman, caring Mother, and devoted and loving grandmother. Services will be held at Rosewood Park on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at ten a.m. Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Wednesday from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
