    Alvah "Bo" Weir Jr

    September 24, 1933 - July 31, 2021

    Alvah “Bo” Weir Jr, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 31st. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview from 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Bo was born September 24, 1933, in Longview TX. he graduated from Beaumont High School; from there he attended the Dallas Police Academy. Bo served 2 years in the Army and 4 years in the reserves training troops for the Korean War. He received an Honorable discharge as a Sergeant. After the service he built his life in Law enforcement as Chief of Police in Gilmer and Ore City. Bo was then employed at Good Shepherd Medical Center where he established their security program. It is there he met his wife, Evelyn Capps. Bo is preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Sr. and Margaret Weir; daughter Teresa Barnes; brothers James and Hanford Weir; and sister Beatrice Martin. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Evelyn Weir; sons David Gilchrist of Grand Prairie, Beau Weir of Longview, and Joe Dan Weir and wife Kimberly of Longview; step-sons Jerry and Wife Alinda of Bossier City, LA, Phillip and wife Ryn of Henderson; daughters Sheree Holt and husband Jimmy of Hallsville, Stacey Griffith and husband Duane of Diana; sisters Linda Shirley and husband Orville of Winnsboro, Lorna Gay Carroll of Winnsboro; 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. I can no longer see you with my eyes, but I will feel you in my heart forever.
