Sharon Tuel

Beloved Wife, Mom, Nana, Sister, and Friend, Sharon Tuel left this earth to join the Lord on Sunday, February 11, 2024, after an extended illness. She was surrounded in her home by her loving family who will continue to carry her shining light until they reunite in the future. That’s the kind of impact that Sharon made on all who knew her. A Longview/Kilgore native, Sharon was born to “Sonny” and Reba Carlton on December 19, 1955, weeks ahead of her expected arrival. This earned her the nickname of Pee Wee from her Mema and Pawpaw, Harvey and Mildred Bass of Kilgore and sister, Sharla. While attending Longview High School, she met then married the love of her life, Jim Tuel, also of Longview. They built their beautiful life together to include their 2 children, Courtney Tuel Cooke of Frisco, Texas, and Brent Tuel of Hallsville, Texas. There was never a holiday that didn’t include a house full of delicious cooking alongside loved ones as Sharon made her best memories in the kitchen. While most attempts were successful, the recreation of “Mema’s Apple Cake” ended in a crumbled mess and enormous laughter showing us that even angels aren’t perfect! It’s the memories that count! Sharon’s professional impact was also a huge contribution to the community. Through her 35-year career with Texas Bank & Trust, she was able to fulfill her passion of helping others live the dream of homeownership. We are certain that many addresses in our city are equally filled with memories because Sharon helped make that a reality. Sharon is also survived by her granddaughter Kaitlyn, great-granddaughter Kinslee, son-in-law Mark Cooke, daughter-in-law Michelle Tuel as well as her sister Sharla Percell and her family based out of Kennesaw, Georgia. Sharon will be honored in a celebration of life ceremony at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas on Friday, February 16, 2024, with visitation from 3-4pm then the service from 4-5pm. In lieu of flowers, Sharon would be honored for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A memorial guestbook may be signed online at www.raderfh.com.
