JoAnne "Jodie" Summers Reid

JoAnne Summers Reid (Jodie) was born Aug. 30,1943. She was the daughter of John Lawrence Summers and Annie Lou Walker. She is survived by her siblings Terry Lynn Akin and Billy Ray Summers. Gone to be with Jesus already are her sisters; Opal Drury Cooper, Minnie Lee “Mickie” Boszor, Yvonna Jean Pinson; brothers; Hiram O’Daniel Drury, Jackie Drury, James Melvin “Buddy” Drury, and Donnie Paul Summers. JoAnne was married 52 years to the love of her life Charles Richard Reid who was waiting for mom’s arrival December 17, 2022, to Heaven with her Great Granddaughter Amelia Jane Shaffer. She was an immaculate homemaker, talented Crocheter, she could make beautiful flower arrangements for any purpose, and she was an amazing wife, mother, and the best Nana, with a childlike spirit of no other. She taught the silly walk to all those that came through her door, shook a dishrag every night to make a magnificent meal, and her chocolate pies would make you want to slap your grandma. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. If she loved you, you knew it. If you had ever done her wrong, you knew it. That eyebrow always let you know, she knew something. She’d say “We were headed to Fist City and they don’t sell toys there.” She was an amazing woman and full of love. She was beautiful in every way. She was generous to a fault. She wanted her family close. Her exact words, “You’re gonna love one another or I’m gonna kill ya”. She had a saying for everything! Some we can’t put in the obit. JoAnne is survived by her oldest daughter Charlotte Jo and husband Mark Minor; Cathilene and husband Edward Hoffman; Christen Michelle and husband Robert Bruce. She is also survived by her grandkids, James “Eric” Minor and wife Nikki; Devon Michael Bruce; Jessica Erin Shaffer and husband Andrew; Joshua Lane Bruce and wife Koven; Jacob Edward Hoffman and fiancé Martha Cadenas and Julia Elise Hoffman; several great grands, Tristin Minor, Kaidin Minor, Avery Rose Bruce, Andrea Yohn, and Silas Anthony. She was anxiously awaiting her twin greats Jaxson and Jacolby Shaffer. Last but not least, her beloved dog Rowdy Bocephus,aka Bo. A special thank you to Gary, Matthew, and Amanda Hale; Misti and Chris Stout for being more than neighbors to Mom, but family. Thank you for letting Logan and Lillith be a part of her life. JoAnne was not a fan of good-byes but always said "See ya later". She also said "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone. " No truer words were ever spoken… Yes we do, in so many ways. We'll definitely see ya later, Mom…..
