James Milton Cammack

Memorial services for Milton Cammack will be 2 PM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael L. Schutz officiating with Dr. Roy James assisting under direction of Rader Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Milton was born November 7, 1925 in Paxton, Texas the 2nd child of Edwin and Elma Cammack. In 1939 they moved to Longview. Following graduation from Longview High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps where he served in the South Pacific Theater as a B-29 Bombardier. Following military service he attended Kilgore College and Baylor University. He then returned to Longview where he began a career of more than 42 years with the Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York. There he earned multiple honors and citations including being chosen as the National Honor Agent in 1983, chosen as 1 agent of more than 9, 000 agents. He shared his time generously with his Church and community including Longview Rotary Club, Executive Board of the Longview Chamber of Commerce, member of the Longview City Council, Longview ISD School Board, American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross. He was also Past President of the Northeast Texas Estate Planning Council, Past President of Oil Belt Association of Life Underwriters, and Past President of East Texas Chapter of CLU's. He was a Life and Qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Other than his family, he loved most of his work with both Wesley United Methodist and First United Methodist of Longview. Over the years he served on their official boards and as a Certified Lay Speaker and a Sunday School Teacher. His Life's priorities were: 1. The Lord, 2. His Family, 3. The Community and his work. His favorite pastime was playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lamar and his sister, Jean Cragg, and his beloved wife Betye, the mother of his six sons. Also, his wife, Jean Roberts Cammack. He is survived by his six sons, Jim and wife, Sara of Bayfield, Colorado, Calvin of Dixon, New Mexico and his son, Chance, Tony and wife, Linda of Longview; Casey and wife Esther and their sons, Andrew, Taylor, and Issac and their daughter, Laura Beth of Longview, Bob and wife, Leslie and their children, Ben and wife, Virginia, Jeremy and wife, Shea, Rachel and husband Charles, Hannah and husband James, Adam and Caleb, son, Jason and his wife, Lauren and their children, Claire, Ella, Cord and Meg. By his sister, Maxyne of Dallas, and special friend, Barbara Bodmer of Dallas. Daughters-in-law, Susan Roberts of Flower Mound, TX and Jodi Caple and husband, Lee of Coppell, Texas. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Betye Cammack Endowment Fund at Asbury House 320 S. Center, Longview, TX 75601
