Edmond Harry "Tobe" Frederick Jr

Edmond Harry (Tobe) Frederick, Jr. was born in West Lake, Louisiana on August 14, 1930, the son of Edmond Harry Frederick Sr. and Lena Pauline Peveto Frederick of Mauriceville, Texas. Tobe entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 4, 2024. Memorial Service honoring Tobe will be held at Calvary Baptist Church – Deweyville, Texas at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024. Visitation will immediately follow the service and all are welcome to join the family for lunch hosted by Calvary Baptist Church – Deweyville, Texas. He is survived by his sister Emily Sue Trahan-Morino; Children, Elva Joyce Johnson (Spouse Barry); Donna Gail Mitchell (Spouse Clifton); Arthur Lee Frederick (Spouse Nancy); daughter-in-law, Carman Frederick; Grandchildren, Carmen Bates, Jay Frederick, Kimber Moffett, Katelyn Knibbe, Austin Gomez, Katy Price, Laura Mayer, Chad Allmon, Sarah Black, Rachael Mitchell, Rebekah Mitchell, Hannah Mitchell Paizis, Katherine Earley, Lena Noble, Zoey Frederick. Many Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by; his parents; his brothers; Casey Frederick, John (Pete) Frederick, his sister; Pauline Frederick Stephenson; Wife of 75 years, Peggy Joyce Funchess Frederick; his son, Frank Lynn Frederick; and grandson, Jason Frederick. Tobe attended Mauriceville School. His family had a dairy farm and he spent all free time milking and hauling milk to town. Started working in oil field at 17, as a roughneck, in Louisiana. At 18 he married the love of his life, Peggy. After a few years he moved to Orange, Texas and worked for Alpha Portland Cement Company for 26 years until it closed. Worked in Maintenance at Little Cypress Mauriceville School until he retired. Moved to Mountain View, Arkansas and was very active with the Ozark Folk Center. He loved Gospel and Country music and was a talented musician. Played Harmonica, fiddle and Piano, all by ear. He also loved woodworking and built houses in; Little Cypress, Orangefield, Toledo Bend Lake, Mountain View, and a church in Mountain View. Also made many items for grandkids including rocking chairs, sitting chairs, wooden puzzles and dominoes, birdhouses, and wooden rolling pins for baking. He loved to fish and spent many a weekend at Sam Rayburn Lake and Toledo Bend Lake with his family and good friend B.A. Green. He also had vegetable and flower gardens wherever he lived and would share his bounty with friends and relatives. For a time he had many animals he raised. Chickens, geese, rabbits, turkeys, pigs and a milk cow. He was hardworking and also resilient. Survived his house burning down, in his 20’s, and he rebuilt it. Survived a yellowjacket attack, in his 80’s, of over 1000 stings and resulting coma for 8 days. A medical miracle the experts reported. He loved life and never met a stranger. Loved by family and friends he was a true testament to his faith. Served as a Deacon in many Baptist Churches, a personable and kind gentleman.
