Clayton Bradley Rogers

Clayton Bradley Rogers was born on September 15, 1982 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Bradley Charles Rogers and Rachelle Lynn Rogers. He left for home on April 27, 2009 from his parents' house. Clay is survived by his loving wife, Allison, his parents, Brad and Rachelle, his sister and brother, Kenzi and Kaden, and Grandmothers Sue Rogers and Ruth Morrison. He fought with the fortitude of cancer survivors and victims everywhere but with ever-present grace and humility. He never thought himself more worthy of relief than anyone else, and he rarely got any, but he remained thankful all the days of his life. Clay was the most loving, compassionate, sincere and joyful person most of us will have ever known in our lives. He was unbelievably grateful for everyone and everything he had, no matter how simple or immaterial. What mattered most to him were his wife, his family and his love of the outdoors. Clay's life was all about giving, not taking. Allison was an incredible gift to Clay in the two years they spent as husband and wife. He loved her with all his soul and she did the same in return. Despite him being ill the majority of their married life, Allison never wavered in her love, devotion and care for Clay. Even in our doubts of Clay's odds in the last few months, not once did Allison not believe that he would make it. Clay had the natural gift to endear himself to everyone he met. His positive attitude, outlook, and passion for life were infectious to all those around him. Clay never had an enemy; Moreover, he met very few people who did not become friends, no matter how often he saw them. Most of his free time was spent on lakes in Texas and Arizona pursuing his love of bass fishing. In the wintertime, he would mostly be found at the deer lease always looking for that trophy buck. His favorite weekends were spent at the house on Lake Fork fishing in tournaments with his Dad or teaching his hunting and fishing skills to his little brother. All of us will struggle to fill the void left in our hearts by Clay's passing. His very presence could turn a bad day into a very good one. However, we must honor his life by loving more, appreciating everything we have, and giving to those less fortunate. He is expecting nothing less from each of us who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview at 2 PM with Trey Kent officiating. In lieu of flowers, the Rogers Family respectfully asks that you give donations in the name of Clay Rogers to those local charities in your area that serve families in need of assistance who are facing financial difficulties due to serious or terminal illnesses.
