Clarence E. McGuire

Clarence E. McGuire Clarence was born December 28, 1942 in Fairfax, Missouri. Our Lord called him home on January 13, 2009. He is survived by his wife Shirley; two daughters, Stephanie Mills and Suzanne Blakeley and son-in-law, Pike Blakeley, three grandsons, Zack Mills, Austin and Carson Blakeley, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by four sisters, Gaynel Loveland of Excelsior Springs, MO.; Earlene Hicks and husband Larry of Tarkio, MO.; Debbie Closser of Springfield, MO.; Wilda Schwenn and husband Donn of Branson West, MO.; one brother, Larry Allen McGuire of Springfield, MO. numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Lester McGuire. Clarence lived a very active life. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a ammunition Specialist. From Tech school he was sent to Chennault AFB in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he met his wife of 46 years. He served at Lockbourne AFB in Columbus, Ohio, later he was transferred to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana. While there he served on a hand picked crew to train to load Bombs and nuclear weapons on a new Fighter Bomber and sent to Viet Nam to test the plane in Combat conditions. We felt so blessed he was returned to us. After serving eight years in service he resigned. He then went to work for Schlitz Brewery for 30 and ½ years. He was a retired bowler and Past President of the Longview Men's Bowling Association. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Sharon Shrine Temple. He also served as President of the Pine Tree Band Boosters Club in which was an active member for 13 years. Funeral services will be held at Two o'clock pm Friday January 16, 2009 at Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Pastor Tom Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Heights Baptist Church Building Fund 1600 Judson Road Longview, TX. 75601 The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday January 15, 2009 from 6-8pm.
