It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Brian Forbus, a cherished soul whose journey on earth ended far too soon, yet whose spirit was called back to the embrace of God, reflecting a life filled with profound love, boundless kindness, and remarkable talent. Brian's departure has left a void in our hearts, but the warmth and love that surrounded him in life and in death are testaments to the countless lives he touched in the most beautiful ways. Brian's essence was one of unparalleled generosity and an innate ability to connect soul-to-soul with everyone he encountered. His was a spirit so radiant that to meet him was to feel immediately seen and understood, regardless of one's background or beliefs. His kindness was a bridge between souls, making each encounter with him a moment of pure connection. A beacon of selflessness, Brian was always there for those in need, offering his help with open arms and a full heart, even in times when he, too, sought support. His talent knew no bounds – as the best barber in town, a passionate musician who graced several bands, and the life of every gathering. Brian's presence was a gift; his clients sought him out not only for his skills but for the uplifting experience of merely being near him. His conversations, infused with genuine love and care, had the power to transform a routine visit into a soul-nourishing encounter. Brian's laughter and sense of humor were lights in the darkness, capable of lifting spirits and dispelling any shadows. His deep love for and faith in Jesus shone brightly, guiding him in his journey of love and compassion towards everyone he met. Brian loved fiercely, with every fiber of his being, ensuring that no words of love were even left unspoken. His heart was an open book, filled with love for all. Born and raised in Kilgore, Texas, Brian's roots ran deep in his beloved community, a place he called home until his final day. His life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Preceding Brian in death were his great grandmother, Gertrude Kirgan, grandmother, Judy Swanson, grandfather, Glenn Murray, grandmother and step grandfather, Marilyn and Roy Sells, and cousins Gwendolyn and James Engeman. Brian is survived by a loving family who adored him beyond measure: his devoted wife Jessica Forbus; his beloved daughters Symphony and Southern Forbus; his son Karter Bocanegra; his siblings Chloe Whipple, Brett and Shelby Forbus, Nathan and Megan Mendenhall, Josh Mendenhall, Sarah Mendenhall, Wayne Forbus, and Gunner Forbus; and his parents Rita and Steve Mendenhall, and Rickey and Felicia Forbus. Each of these individuals was a crucial part of Brian's journey, sharing in his love, his laughter, and now, in the legacy of his memory. A funeral service to honor Brian's life will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, TX, on Saturday, April 6th, at 10:00 am, with a memorial to celebrate his life planned for a later date. In remembrance of Brian, let us hold dear the words from 1 John 4:7: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." Brian embodied this scripture in every aspect of his life, and may we continue to cherish and spread the love he so freely gave. Brian, though you have left this earthly realm, your spirit and the love you shared will forever resonate within us. Rest in peace, dear soul, until we meet again.
