I knew Mac through ham radio. As soon as I came to LeTourneau U. in 1987 I met a number of friendly Hams like Mac! Mac's distinct voice seemed everpresent on VHF.

Getting to know your dad today, Larry, through the wonders of a medium which is akin to his professional and avocational interests throughout his lifetime has been a special treat. You always referred to him in loving terms, and the eyes of a loving son would light up in admiration of his many accomplishments in this life when you spoke of him. May those remembrances now sustain you. Your wonderful wife and son will help you with the challenge of loss. Seeing Jim next week will provide some needed contrast to the past week. Bronson and I--and Tiffany, Clark and Meredith, with whom I will share the news of your dad's death--will hold you in our thoughts and prayers. Mr.Mac installed my foster fathers first radio in his police car way back when,I was just a small fry but I remember going to Mr. Mac's shop and my dad having work done on the radio some times.Mr.Mac would always tell what he was doing like I understood what he was talking about and him and my dad always got a laugh out of it.##imported-begin##Allen Russom##imported-end##

We will all miss Mr. Mac. I remember all of the wonderful times we had together at Lake Cherokee and on Highland St when you kids were growing up and Bill worked for Mr. Mac. Mr. Mac was always pulling jokes on people. The one that sticks out in my mind is the one with the trash man on Highland St. with the artificial snake. Mr. Mac put the snake coiled up in the trash and when the trash man lifted the lid the snake was on top. The trash man almost killed himself trying to get away and threw trash everywhere. Mr. Mac laughed and laughed. It really got away with him. He had a wonderful personality and was a lot of fun to be around. He had many interesting hobbies and I always enjoyed watching and learning from him. I always enjoyed watching the bees through the glass in the garage and if I remember right I think he built modle airplanes and flew them. He was a wonderful person to know and very interesting.
