I sent all the hugs I can pack into this note. How I remember all the Ashes through the years and also how much my dad thought of the "boys" he saw through church and little league and then adulthood. May the days ahead be filled with memories that comfort you. Barbara Gilbert
Dear Elma and Family,
We are so blessed to have had Richard for a friend. He was a walking encyclopedia. Any conversation with him was a learning experience.
He made it clear where he stood on any subject. He was firm in his faith, secure in his salvation, and lived with the greatest integrity.
He was so willing to help us in any way he could. He always made sure Chuck had a ride to church and other "outings" they enjoyed with friends.
On the last day he was able to leave his home he and Elma delivered their Meals on Wheels route. This is no surprise to anyone who knew him....giving of himself to be of service to others.

Richard was a friend, partner in fight against OFC nuts and a joy to be with. I will miss him so much. I will look at his chair on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and feel I have lost my best friend. I know he is in heaven and I am looking forward to seeing him again. I sympathy to the family and if I can do anything to help, please call me.
