Services for Jackie Sherman Chapman of Longview will be held at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Longview at 2 PM Saturday, December 15, with Reverend Wayne Wellborn officiating and assisted by Reverend Jay Barnes, pastor of Winterfield United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Gladewater Memorial Cemetery, Gladewater, TX. Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Jackie passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
She was born to Dave and Ovie Pickens on January 10, 1932 at Gilmer, Texas. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1948 and the Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing at Austin, Texas in 1952. She worked many years as a registered nurse, retiring in 1992.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jack Sherman in 1989, and three sisters: Connie Powell, Helen Williams and Mary Williams. She is survived by her husband Dr. Morgan R. Chapman, Jr. of Longview, son, Mark Sherman and wife Terri and grandchildren Jack and Hannah Sherman of Scottsdale, Arizona, stepson Matthew Chapman and family of Tyler, stepdaughter, Phyllis Bragg and family of Mesquite, TX, aunt, Lelia Jones, several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers will be Bill Franke, Ronnie Bledsoe, Harold Wells, Robert Dabbins, Kyle Carlisle and Pat Thompson. Honorary pall bearers will be the men of the Winmore Sunday School class.
At Jackie's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
